If you’ve been visiting a while, you know that I’m done with New Year’s resolutions but I love setting goals.
A conundrum, you think?
Not necessarily.
I’ve found a much more effective way to approach my New Year that I believe will work for you too.
And it starts simply with one word.
Literally, it’s just one word. A word that you choose to guide you for the year.
One word that you choose to live out with purpose and intentionality.
This past year my One Word was enough.
Wow! God really took me through the hills and the valleys this year. But through it all, He showed himself to be more than enough for me. All that I needed was provided and then some.
Choose your One Word
My encouragement to you is to take some time as the year wraps up to meditate on the word that God wants to put on your heart.
Grab your free Personal Retreat Guide here to help you plan a focused time to set the tone for your New Year.
Remember, a personal retreat can be as short or as long as your schedule allows. An hour of intentional, focused time, can be just what your soul needs to fire you up for the new year.
Make Your One Word Stick
After a few years of being a One Word fan, I made a surprising discovery.
If I’m not careful, my One Word could suffer the same terrible fate as my New Year’s resolutions. So I had to find a way to make it stick.
On One Word 365, I shared 5 ways to make your One Word stick. Click the link to read it and find out how to kick your One Word into high gear.
Psst… I’m offering a special treat just for One Word 365 readers that you won’t want to miss. So, follow me over there.
Wishing you blessings and a Happy New Year!

Marv, I so love your passion for sharing what God has put on your heart. You’re such an inspiration! May God richly bless you as you pursue your goals for 2017. Can’t wait to hear what your one word is. (Guess what? You were my neighbour over at Grace & Truth. :))

Hahaha, Carl, I love it when we’re neighbours, especially since we’re practically neighbours in real life. 🙂
I feel really blessed to have the opportunity to share what God has been doing in my life via this online space and I’m even more thrilled that we get to journey together.
Thanks for being a faithful encouragement to me.
Hugs and blessings,
Marv

UNSTOPPABLE was my word last year. While I’m not quite sure if my year reflected that until the past couple months, it was such an empowering and good word for me. This year I’m choosing POWERFUL. I think all of us our powerful: talented and blessed in some way, and it seems fitting for me this year.

Wow, you’ve had some amazing words, Bonnie. I pray that you will be POWERFUL and experience the POWER of God at work in your life in 2017. Go get ’em!

Love your word of the year, and so agree….I love setting goals, but am over resolutions! Mine this year is love.
Marva | Sun Sparkle Shine says
That’s a beautiful word, Kori! I pray that you will experience the height and depths of God’s LOVE and that you will also share His LOVE with others in 2017 and beyond.
Blessings and sparkles!

Last year I chose the word still. I haven’t thought about a word for this year yet, but I think it’s a great idea. I’ll be thinking about my word!
Marva | Sun Sparkle Shine says
Thanks for stopping by, Valerie. I can’t wait to hear what word you come up with for 2017. I just chose mine today (or it chose me) and I’ll be sharing it in the New Year.
Until then, Happy New Year to you, my friend!
