Don’t you just wish motherhood came with an instruction manual?
New appliances come with manuals. So do new cars, remote controls and other gadgets.
Even the simplest apps provide a quick tutorial when you first download it.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have an instruction manual for moms too? I bet it’d be a big hit!
I could see it now…
When the new baby arrives, relief and elation dance happily together. Mom and baby enjoy their first precious moments bonding together.
As the nurse sweeps the baby away for his very first vitals, an assistant appears beside the mother’s bedside.
“Congratulations, Mom. We’re so pleased to welcome you to the world of motherhood. Here is your New Mom Manual which you will find extremely helpful. We suggest that you take some time to read it and become familiar with the details before handling your newborn. You’ll be happy you did.”
The new mom can’t thank the attendant enough. She’s relieved that she doesn’t have to figure it all out on her own. So she spends her next waking moments cuddling her newborn in one arm and her New Mom Manual in the next.
Yes, I know…these are the things that dreams are made of.
In reality, life isn’t quite like that and I’m afraid that we pretty much have to learn this motherhood gig on the job.
But the truth is, while those late night feedings can feel pretty lonely, we don’t have to walk this road alone.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
Aren’t you happy that we have One who walks this journey with us?
And as a matter of fact, we also get to partner with God to support other moms!
Today, I’m over at my friend Horace William Jr.’s site (Pleasing to the Potter) talking about this very topic.
I’m super excited because not only do we have some amazing tips for you, but while there you can also grab a set of free graphics to share with moms for Mother’s Day.
This one’s my favourite!
Plus, Horace has a special surprise waiting for you!

I can totally relate! I remember right before we were discharged from the hospital after the birth of our first born thinking, ” I can’t believe are just going to let us leave with this baby! They don’t even know what kind of people we are! We could be awful as parents and they are just going to let us go home like this?” But there wasn’t a manual and so began the process of God parenting me in order to parent them. lol I think I have grown more than they have through this process:) Blessings Marva!

Gretchen, I just love how you said that: God was parenting you so that you could parent them. I think parenting is one of those areas in life where God humbles us by reminding us how dependent we are on Him. Thank goodness no one has produced that manual yet!
I’m so glad you stopped by and shared your sparkle with us.
Blessings to you!

If only it were THAT easy! Motherhood has presented quite a few challenges and some awesome experiences as well! Thank God for the Holy Spirit to guide us also!! <3

We can only wish, but as Diana pointed out in her comments, God knows exactly what we need and it’s not another manual. It’s really about dependence on Him, isn’t it? Challenges come and go but our God remains a constant source of strength. And yes, with the Holy Spirit to guide us, we’re sure to find hope when we need it.
Blessing to you, Christian!

Marva, what a blessed post ! I have wished a million times while raising my 3 year old triplets that someone handed me a well written manual on how to raise them as a first time mama. It would have been really a blessing but it would not have been perfect .
God wanted me to be the pen as He wrote a new story in my children’s lives . He has become my constant companion As I look unto Him for strength and help each day.

Diana, I love that — we get to be the pen as God writes our children’s stories. Brings tears to my eyes, friend.
I’m so grateful that God allows us to partner with him in such amazing, life-changing ways.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, lovely!
